Sustainable Community
The Sustainable Community initiative in Canada represents a groundbreaking effort to unite small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), non-profit organizations (NPOs), and local municipalities in the fight against climate change. With validation from Verra, this project has mobilized over 160 micro-project developers, leading to the creation of more than 2,500 microprojects and the reduction of over 9.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gases since its inception in 2012. The initiative not only generates significant carbon credits, equivalent to removing 280,000 cars from the road for a year, but also distributes 80% of carbon revenues back to developers, promoting sustainable economic growth. By offering a transparent and traceable system for carbon credit sales, the Sustainable Community enhances the social and environmental fabric of local areas while aligning with six of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This collective approach accelerates the ecological transition and presents an attractive opportunity for buyers looking to invest in North American carbon credits from innovative, community-driven projects.

Project Overview
Imagine a world where small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), NPOs and small municipalities join forces to fight climate change. In Canada alone, over 1.2 million SMEs do not have access to financial incentives to reduce emissions.
Enter the Sustainable Community, Canada's first grouped project, validated by Verra.
With over 160 committed micro-project developers, we're accelerating climate action beyond the status quo. The Sustainable Community operates like an innovative climate hive, creating a climate synergy that deploys the power of action when SMEs pool their decarbonization efforts.
Since 2012, our tangible results speak for themselves:
- + 2 500 microprojects developed
- + 9.5 million tonnes of GHGs reduced, qualified and quantified
- That's the equivalent of taking 280,000 cars off the road for a year!
- +2.1 million Canadian dollars to participating developers (2023 only)
- 80% of carbon revenues are dedicated to project developers.
- 6 SDGs (Co-benefits on 6 of the 17 SDGs - 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17)
For buyers, it's a unique opportunity to acquire North American carbon credits from innovative, aggregated community projects that boost the economic, social and ecological fabric. No compromise on control either! The sustainable community project developer (Will Solutions) ensures the quality, traceability, transparency and security of the production and sale of carbon credits throughout the value chain.
