REDD+ THE LAST HABITAT

The REDD+ EL ÚLTIMO HÁBITAT project safeguards over 14,000 hectares of highly diverse Amazonian forests in Ucayali, Peru, creating a vital 'green island' of biodiversity. This initiative is crucial for the conservation of several key species, including the jaguar, tapir, and giant anteater, within the last contiguous block of Amazonian forest in the area. Additionally, the project protects over 750 species of flora and fauna, including six endangered species, while indirectly benefiting around 835 families from nearby communities. With over 3,000 hectares of aguajales, which are vital for carbon sequestration, this project stands as a significant effort in combating climate change and preserving unique ecosystems.
