COMPOSTING OF ORGANIC WASTE PROJECT IN GUANGXI
This project represents the first indirect soil carbon sequestration initiative in China, employing the ACM0022 methodology for composting. By converting organic waste into fertilizer, it aims to reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, ultimately enhancing the organic carbon content of the soil and improving its overall quality. The facility consists of two instances: the first processes 400,000 tonnes of organic waste annually, producing 300,000 tonnes of fertilizer, while the second treats 150,000 tonnes and generates 110,000 tonnes. This innovative approach not only supports local farmers with sustainable fertilizers but also contributes to environmental preservation by diverting waste from landfills.

Project Overview
The first issued indrect soil Soil carbon sequestration project in China
The first composting project in China registered using the ACM0022
methodology
Soil Carbon Sequestration.
The organic wastes in this project are turned to fertilizer and are used for soil application by local farmers.
The replacement of chemistry fertilizer with organic fertilizers can significantly increase the total organic
carbon content of the soil, improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil, and give the soil a better
ecological environment.
Brief Introduction of the Project:
The is a new composting plant which is designed to treat organic wastes that would otherwise have been
dumped in the solid waste disposal sites to produce organic fertilizer. The project mainly comprises of
fermentation system and fertilizer production system, and each has some subprocesses. The project is
located in two sites, i.e instance 1 and instance 2. The instances 1 is designed to treat 400,000 tonnes wet
organic waste per year and produce 300,000 tonnes fertilizer per year. The instances 2 is designed to treat
150,000 tonnes wet organic waste per year and produce 110,000 tonnes fertilizer per year.

This project adheres to recognized carbon standards and undergoes third-party validation and verification. These standards help ensure emissions reductions or removals are real, measurable, and traceable.
Sustainable Development Goals
This project contributes to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
No poverty
End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Quality Education
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Climate action
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Life on land
Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations General Assembly. This project's contributions to these goals are verified and monitored.
